Today, we are comparing
the Hermès Lindy 26 in Gold with gold hardware against an authentic bag.
As with our Birkin review, let’s first show
the proof of authenticity before we begin.
We were looking for a bag from
an Hermès boutique or the official online store,
and fortunately, we found one.

Front-view comparison of the Hermès Lindy 26 in Gold with gold hardware.
The Hermès Lindy is made from Clemence leather.
Clemence is similar to Togo. The difference is that
Togo is made from male calfskin,
while Clemence is made from adult cowhide.
Clemence combines scratch resistance
with exceptional softness. In person,
it feels even softer than Togo.
The Hermès Lindy’s characteristic
dip in the middle
gives you a sense of just how supple Clemence is.

From the front, the design emphasizes
a soft, natural slouch.
From the side, it has a rectangular shape
that holds up when the bag is carried over the arm.

Stitching details on the side handle
The diagonal saddle stitching
speaks for itself.
It has been reproduced beautifully.

Here is a comparison of the back.
Viewed from behind, the Lindy 26
has an isosceles trapezoid shape.
Reproducing that balanced shape
is more difficult than it might seem.
The biggest problem with many alternatives
is that the sides slope too steeply
from top to bottom.

Next, let’s look at the clasp hardware.
Please note that the protective film
makes the surface look matte.
The overall size, shape and color of the hardware are the same.
The authentic bag’s engraving is actually less tidy, with a scratched-in appearance.
Even the small rectangular mark beside “HERMES-PARIS”
looks slightly distorted on the authentic example.
