The bag we are reviewing in this post
is the Lindy.

The Lindy first appeared in 2007.
It was born when Hermès wanted
to bring a fresh perspective
to its traditional design language.

The name “Lindy” comes from
the Lindy Hop, a swing dance
popular in the 1920s.
Just as the dance feels free and energetic,
the Lindy was designed to be flexible
and move comfortably with you 🙂

you will notice that its shape
is unlike that of a conventional handbag.
for the Lindy’s distinctive shape.

It comes down to how it sits when you slip your arm through the handles.
Inspired by the way women
carried bags over their wrists,
Jean Paul Gaultier designed it so the bag
would sit parallel to the arm for a more comfortable position.

The Clemence leather used for this Lindy 26
is wonderfully soft. To the touch,
it feels exceptionally supple, and
as it gradually breaks in over time,
it develops an even more refined appearance.

Clemence is also durable,
retaining its grain beautifully
even after years of use.
At first glance, it looks very similar to Togo,
but Clemence has a larger grain
and feels more supple
and softer to the touch.
Because of these qualities,
Clemence can develop a relaxed slouch.
That softness is precisely what creates
the Lindy’s distinctive dip in the middle.

The Lindy 26 is designed
with practicality in mind. Its two short handles
make it comfortable to carry by hand,
while the longer strap
sits securely on the shoulder.
The zippers at the sides
also make it easy to put things in and take them out.
As some of you will know, the closures
on Hermès’ signature Birkin and Kelly
can be rather cumbersome,
so many people simply carry them open.
The Lindy, however, is much easier to open and close!
The zipper used here is
a Riri zipper.

Often called the Hermès of zippers,
Riri is a luxury zipper brand,
and many luxury houses
use its zippers in their bags.
Gold hardware pairs beautifully
with Gold leather. Its warm tone
works in harmony with
the softness of the Clemence leather,
giving the whole bag a refined finish.
The tiny Hermès engraving
on the front clasp is exceptionally precise.
Because the lettering is so small,
it varies slightly even between authentic bags.
There is another hidden engraving here!
The lettering on the lock fitting
should be very fine and sharply defined.
The diamond-shaped mark
is often a revealing detail:
sometimes it looks too square,
or its proportions seem slightly off.
When examining the engraving,
check that the lettering is fine and crisp
and that the diamond is not too square 🙂
This is the logo stamp
you see when you open the Hermès Lindy.
Doesn’t it look beautifully clean?

The Lindy 26 may have
an unusual silhouette, but it is
a wonderfully versatile bag.
It works just as well with casual outfits
as it does on more formal occasions.
The Hermès Lindy 26 in Gold Clemence with gold hardware
is ideal for anyone who wants
both practicality and style. To finish,
here are a few photos of the Lindy being worn.
Thank you!
